As most European patent lawyers know, EPLAW Honorary Member and former President Willem Hoyng provides weekly comments on all UPC cases in his ‘UPC Unfiltered’ series. Now, all UPC cases together with Willem Hoyng’s comments have been gathered in an AI search engine, named ‘UPC Intelligence’.

The free AI tool was built entirely by Senior Associate Akiva Friedmann. Willem Hoyng: “Finding Unified Patent Court decisions is a problem every UPC practitioner knows. The case law is public, but scattered across sources without a unified, easily searchable interface. Our senior associate Akiva Friedmann decided to fix that.”

The project started as a simple internal project for Akiva to make the UPC Unfiltered commentaries available in a more structured way, but it turned into a near-complete search engine for all UPC case law.

The platform offers:

• Comprehensive case search – a structured, continuously updated database of UPC decisions with keyword search, filters, and straightforward navigation.
• Expert commentary – searchable access to Willem Hoyng’s “UPC Unfiltered” analysis of essentially every UPC decision, side by side with the decisions themselves.
• AI research assistants – AI-powered chatbots that let users interrogate the full corpus of decisions in natural language, ask questions about rules and themes, and trace threads across cases.

The platform can be accessed here: https://upcintelligence.hoyngrokhmonegier.com/
