The first Women in EPLAW webinar took place yesterday. The successful event, titled “A Discussion with Women Judges”, was led by Julia Ericsson (SE).
Four female judges explored topics such as their career paths, experiences of cooperation between judges (within national courts and within the UPC), harmonisation, and observations from a judge’s perspective on successfully running a case for patent litigators.
The participating judges were:
- Elisabetta Papa (IT) – technically qualified judge in the UPC, European patent attorney and Head of Patents at Società Italiana Brevetti;
- Kai Härmand (EE) – legally qualified judge of the Nordic Baltic Regional Division and judge at Harju County Court (First Instance);
- Charlotte May KC (UK) – Deputy Judge of the UK Patents Court and barrister at 8 New Square; and
- Katalin Tözsér (DE) – judge of the Munich I Regional Court
Women in EPLAW webinars are primarily aimed at women in EPLAW but also at women in the Young EPLAW community (although other members of EPLAW and the Young EPLAW community are also welcome to join). The Young EPLAW community consists of associate lawyers of EPLAW members who are on track to become future EPLAW members.
