EPLAW – Knowledge webinar: How to conduct patent litigation remotely

08 Oct 2020

Yesterday, EPLAW held its first member driven knowledge webinar. The session lasted one hour and centred around a panel discussion of recent learnings from remote hearings in a number of jurisdictions. Approximately fourty EPLAW members participated.

Moderator Myles Jelf guided panelists Tess Waldron, Kristof Neefs, Tilman Müller-Stoy, Fabrizio Jacobacci and Mike Gilbert through various topics related to remote hearings, including: experiences with the various meeting platforms, technical issues encountered, the pros and cons of remote hearings, and the need for parallel platforms in order to discuss privately amongst team members.

Overall, the panelists do see a post COVID future for remote hearings, especially for shorter hearings as conducting hearings remotely drastically reduces travel time and costs.

This is the first of a series of webinars to be orginised by EPLAW for its members.
